   My dad & his cousin, Harvey Bestor & Cousin (and best man) Jack R. Bestor, served in CCC Company 1610.They played Baseball there, the team was the Woodcocks, CCC Co. 1610. Both from Fond du Lac, Wisconsin.

   My cousin, and my dad's best man, Jack R. Bestor, served in CCC Company 1610 with my Dad Harvey Bestor, both from Fond du Lac, Wisconsin. They played Baseball there on the Woodticks. Jack then served in WW II in the Navy from September 8, 1943 to December 10, 1945, service # 869-19-57. He served on the USS LST-171 and received the Victory Medal. He was a Motor Machinist's Mate 2nd Class Petty Officer. He went on to work in sales for Fond du Lac Concrete, and be active with his church and the boy scouts and serving as the president of the local school board before passing in 1962, survived by his wife Charlotte.

   Dad played baseball into his mid-30s; managed Dick & Bob, Bill Batboy the FdL Championship Legion Team of 1958 (State Champs-Rhinelander) & 59 (Runner-up); formed & managed the FdL RedSox in the LandoLake League; and would often organize "Old Timers'' games at the Fairgrounds or Lake Side Park. Married with children and nearing twenty seven, did not serve in WWII. He remained active in baseball, playing semi professionally and managing local teams and the local little league system. He also was a conductor with the Chicago & Northwest Transportation Company, and elected to the County Board of Supervisors. He passed away in 1991 survived by his wife, three sons, and fourteen grand and great grand children.
